And underneath are the everlasting arms…”

Deuteronomy 33:27

CHANTHOU’S STORY OF LOVE

Chantou’s”>Chantou’s (pictured with us) father died before we met her and her mother has a disease that limits her mobility. Although all of our students are poor, Chantou is the poorest. We generally don’t provide spending money but for Chantou and one other in the dorm, we do because they literally have none. When we decided to give her spending money, she asked us if we could instead give the $20 per month toward her 2 sisters (pictured) education in the village. Lately we are not accepting new students so that we can make sure the students we have are well taken care of, but then a scenario like this pops up! We have a very hard time turning these requests down! Please pray along with us that God will continue to send enough sponsors for all of our needs!

PRE-CONSTRUCTION TRAINING GROUND!

One of our leaders decided to get an early start on reaching the neighborhood for Jesus around our new Refuge Center! Our CEF trained high school students are pictured teaching inside and outside the walls of our new Center. We are hoping to move in by the end of March. We will house our elementary and senior high age students there.

SAMY – A GRADUATED STUDENT WHO WAS RESCUED ON A PARK BENCH

Four years ago, one of our students came to us and said that an acquaintance of his named Samy called him and told him he had no place to stay, no money, no transportation and was nearly out of phone minutes. We were hesitant, but agreed to take him for a night or two. After meeting him and hearing his story, we sponsored him and he graduated from college last year. His dad was abusive and Samy couldn’t go home. He was cheated out of money by a fly-by-night college. He knew his father would be furious and he couldn’t go back. He dealt with depression before and was afraid of what it could do to him. He tells us to this day how the love from those at the dorm gave him hope and his faith deepened while there. This is a song he wrote which talks about how lost he was and how much He needs God. Thank you to those of you who give to the ministry – these are the stories that made us want to begin Refuge for the Poor so that, through God, we might be able to help many more like Samy.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. Please continue to pray for more women and children to come into our Mother’s Home. Our one lady is due to have her baby in February. Please pray we can reach her heart with the gospel.
  2. Pray that our Refuge Center is constructed well and finished by the end of March.
  3. We have applied to an organization that helps missionaries with projects. Please pray they accept our $5,000 proposal to help us furnish our new Refuge Center.
  4. Please pray for Jane as she decides about traveling to Cambodia for some work and to encourage our ministry leaders including Sam, a Cambodian-American serving at the dormitory.
  5. Praise God that the one young lady in the dorm who did not know Jesus in her heart, just trusted Him this week! We hope to highlight her story next time! Please pray for her growth in spiritual life.
  6. Greg developed a blood clot because of his port. Thankfully he didn’t need the port removed but we need to give him blood thinner shots every day. Please pray the blood clot diminishes. Thank you!
