REFUGE FOR THE POOR

www.refugeforthepoor.org

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Psalm 46:1-3

GRADUATION CELEBRATIONS – SO PROUD OF THEM!

This year among our sponsored students, we have two high school graduations, a college graduation and a Bible School graduation. The 2 girls graduating from high school used to come to our home to watch Tom and Jerry cartoons with our projector and learn Bible songs and lessons when they were 6 years old! One of the girls is pictured here in the middle first row. Our Bible School student is pictured above and is 2nd from the right. He will continue on for a Master’s degree. We hope he will join our ministry when he finishes! Thank you to those of you who sponsor and give to our ministry – we use it all to help educate and disciple poor students from 6 years old on up through Master’s-age students!

DANE HAS LANDED A JOB!

Dane has another semester of school left but has landed a job with Prudential in Cambodia! Dane studies business and English. She is gifted in many areas but our favorite trait is that she loves God with all her heart. She has her own ministry, teaching children in her home village and is discipling teen leaders from that ministry. Pictured is the home where she grew up and we first met her. Her success story is our ministry’s aim. She has been discipled and educated since grade school. Now, she will escape the poverty of her family. She can also help better serve and support her local church financially. Thank you sponsors who have answered God’s call to help the poor in Cambodia!

PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. For our students and leaders: Please “continually ask God to fill you (them) with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you (they) may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you (they) may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father…”
  2. Please pray that our students will be bold to share their faith with their families and friends, especially as some will visit their homes during coming year-end breaks.
  3. Praise God with us that we have been able to keep up with all the duties of a non-profit and ministry – admin, phone calls to leaders and students and planning through this tough season for Greg’s health and the special needs of our daughter in the loss of her husband. God’s strength is given at the very time we need it – we can’t see it until it’s there – but it always arrives in time! Praise Him!
  4. Please pray for our foster granddaughter to be kept safe during her time with her birthmom. Pray, too, for our son and his wife. This little one is like their own because she’s been with them for 2 years since birth. They need peace and strength. Pray that somehow the courts will grant custody to them.
