HEADING TO CAMBODIA WITH 50 PAIRS OF

“THE SHOE THAT GROWS” FROM ST. STEPHEN’S

We are excited to share that Jane is taking a 3-week trip with Janine McLaverty, RTP’s home administrator, to Cambodia. (Janine is pictured on the right.) They will leave August 6th and return August 27th. St. Stephen’s in Feasterville has been supporting our students for many years and this is the 2nd time they are sending 50 pairs of “The Shoe That Grows” with us to Cambodia. Pastor Peggy is holding one of the shoes. She will be retiring at the end of August. Pastor Peggy and these other women pictured, Carol Dunn and Charlotte Koch have encouraged us so very much throughout the years. We are going to miss Pastor Peggy so very much! Thank you St. Stephen’s for being the loving body of Christ to us and those in Cambodia!

FINALLY THERE ARE 2 WOMEN AT ONE TIME IN THE MOTHER’S HOME!

Thankfully God answered yours and our prayers for new women to come into the Mother’s Home! The white strip on the baby’s head (pictured first) are fever strips. Most Cambodian’s use them. The bottom picture is the woman who is leading the home and she has 2 children of her own. We will hire one more person after we make sure these women are here to stay! Thank you for your donations to our project fund which help us run this home and help these mom’s and children.

MEET HELEN AND STAN KAROL

Pictured is Helen and Stan Karol, the friendliest administrative financial assistants Refuge for the Poor could have! We have always seen how God has blessed us with leaders and staff in Cambodia and we are seeing Him provide us with a wonderful team here in America, too! Stan and Helen are volunteers and process the contributions you send through our post office box. We are so grateful for them. For those of you who go to Davisville and know Michele Matsick, they are her parents! Michele serves as the Global Outreach Director at Davisville Church and is also a special friend. We are surrounded with love and support from this family and we are very thankful for them!

MEET SOPHEA, ONE OF OUR TOP STUDENTS

Sophea doesn’t look like it, but he’s going into 6th grade! He’s been sponsored by RTP since pre-school. He is always at the top of his class. Only a handful of our students have been able to meet their sponsor, but Sophea was one of those students.

A monthly amount of $35 helps us to pay a student’s tuition to a Christian school. A leader follows up with the student’s Christian discipleship.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. For our students and leaders: Please “continually ask God to fill you (them) with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you (they) may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you (they) may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father…”
  2. Please pray that our students will be bold to share their faith with their families and friends during their year-end break.
  3. Pray for health for Janine and Jane as they travel to Cambodia. Pray for them to be able to greatly encourage all the leaders and students and Sam, our RTP volunteer. Pray for Janine to get a greater grasp and understanding of the ministry.
  4. Praise God with us that Greg was released from his last chemo treatment! Pray for him to gain his strength back to begin radiation at the end of August.
  5. The children and teens have moved to the new Refuge Center! Please pray that all at the Center will be a Light to the people in the village around them. Jane and Janine will participate in a “new home” celebration where the village chief and neighbors will be invited. Please pray that the event will go well and good relationships will begin to be established.
