But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

SO FUN TO BE TOGETHER IN CAMBODIA

Janine McLaverty (middle), our home administrator, made the long trip with me (first flight to Hong Kong – 15 1/2 hours, 3 hour layover and then 2 1/2 hour flight to Cambodia) for a 3 week stay in Cambodia. It was Janine’s first trip there. Sam Sembon (left) is our first RTP volunteer and has been in Cambodia nearly a year. It was so fun to minister together there! Sam is returning to the states next week. We were busy day and night, visiting, encouraging, teaching and worshipping together with our staff and students. There were lots of celebrations at the new center, too – my birthday, the center’s grand opening and a huge puppet outreach with 150 children. We had 3 one-day retreats each, with the teen/little girls, college students and staff. We also visited a small village church and the village homes of our college students. We were dirty and exhausted every evening – but we praise God for good health and safety!

THE MIRACLE OF THE REFUGE CENTER OPENING DAY!

What a joy to be in Cambodia during the opening of the Refuge Center! The staff did a wonderful job preparing the food and celebration. They had my favorite – rice noodles and red curry – Yum!

When we compare the income and expenses to build the new center, we are mystified – much more was spent than came in. God performed a miracle for sure to see that His children have a place of refuge! Some of you may remember that at the start of this center, our plan was to follow the way of George Mueller and past men and women of faith who completely relied on God for their needs without letting others know any needs. The week we made that decision, an email arrived from a supporter requesting us to let him know of any projects we had because he had a large sum of money to give away. That story ended with us receiving $62,000 toward the Center. Although we needed much more to complete it, God saw to it in ways we can not measure – He truly is a God of miracles!

GOTTA CLICK TO GET A THANK YOU! (IT’S 5 SEC!)

Visiting our new Refuge Center made me realize the power of God and His love for the poor once again. I was overwhelmed by all that God is doing there. But, we can never forget you, the sponsor, who God has moved to help us. Our children are grateful and wanted to say thank you for all that they have because of you. One of our little ones has already moved on to the teenage room – they are growing up! We have just learned about a 6 year old orphan who will be coming soon to fill the one empty bunk bed! Thank you, sponsors!

PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. For our students and leaders: Please “continually ask God to fill you (them) with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you (they) may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you (they) may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father…”
  2. Please pray for the unity of our staff.
  3. Praise God for His protection over our health while in Cambodia, including Greg’s at home!
  4. Pray for Greg not to have any discomfort from his radiation/chemo pill which starts September 5th for 6 weeks, 5 days a week.
  5. Praise God for His miracle provision for our Refuge Center!
  6. Pray for 2 new college students, a new 6-year old orphan girl, and a mother of 5 children whose husband is in prison who may be joining us this coming month. Pray they all come to know and follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
