The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

DECEMBER 2019

ABOVE AND BELOW THE REFUGE CENTER – EVERY SPACE IS USED!

There was so much activity at our new Refuge Center in the month of December! Students and leaders from all of our ministry locations come together to fast and pray monthly. They wanted to pray on the roof to ask God for specific things needed for the Center. The village children and teens around the Center who normally come for English and music classes (and fill every space available!) were able to come to, most likely, their very first Christmas worship service ever! They also had a Christmas church service and dinner for 150 people. Praise God for His amazing provision of the Refuge Center – and thank you all who help us!

FINALLY – OUR FIRST WORSHIP NIGHT AT THE MOTHER’S HOME!

Our goal at the Mother’s Home has been to introduce the single moms to Jesus while ministering to their needs. We were waiting for the moms to establish a relationship with the leaders before asking them to attend a Bible study. The three women you see on the left in this picture above have been with us now for quite a few months and they have employment. The other 2 are workers/leaders. We finally had our first introduction to Jesus this past month! Fellowship including this nice meal followed the Bible study. Thank you to so many who have donated to this ministry home and prayed for the women and children. Please keep praying for more women and children to come – we have 5 more rooms available for women.

GOD COMFORTS THOSE WHO MOURN

A couple years ago you may remember a story about Greg helping to build a little coffin for a 3-month old baby. We were devastated when the couple who runs the sewing business lost their baby son due to negligence in a famous Cambodian children’s hospital. For the past couple years we have been trying to help them adopt a little girl (they have two teenage sons) but God had a greater plan. Ma Rotha, the mom, recently had her own little baby girl! This blessing from God has encouraged our factory worker ministry greatly and brought so much attention to a God who comforts those who mourn. This story reminds us so much of Isaiah 61:3 “to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” Please praise God along with us for this great blessing!

PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. Please pray as Greg will have a hernia operation January 13th. It will require a 2 day stay in the hospital and 6 week recovery.
  2. One of our high school students who we support in the village is very sick with aplastic anemia. She may need a bone marrow transplant if she doesn’t respond to medication. The transplant can only be done in a neighboring country. Please pray her body responds to the medication.
  3. Please pray as we consider building a home for a very poor family we have known since we arrived in Cambodia. They have suffered for years living in a small shack that floods each rainy season. The new home will also serve as a ministry center where our students will reach out to the neighboring people.
  4. Please pray as we have run out of space already for new students and classrooms at the Refuge Center. We are praying that we can add another floor in the coming year.
  5. Please pray with us that God’s Light will reach far into and around the existing communities of each of our Centers – The Refuge Center, The Factory Worker Ministry Area, Mother’s Home, College Dorm and Sensok Center.
  6. Please pray for the Lord to continue to supply our many needs (as He has always done, praise Him!) and to be able to help many more lives be changed physically and spiritually in Cambodia.
